Apo Island Marine Sanctuary

The marine sanctuary is at the other side of the island and is just a 10-15 minute walk from the Apo Island Beach resort. You'll have to pass through the small fishing village on the way to the marine sanctuary. It's a great way to mingle with the locals :) We brought our snorkeling gear with us because we intended to go snorkeling. However, we were greated by strong waves smashing against the rocky shore of the marine sanctuary. Obviously, we didn't go diving there either. Why is there an entrance and exit? Those rocks are slippery and razor sharp! The waves were smashing against the shore so it was easy to lose your balance and fall. At one end of the marine sanctuary near the entrance, you can find the Apo Island High School Annex. In my opinion, this is the ideal school for me :) I can imagine just spending my recess and lunch breaks swimming in the ocean! On the way back, I was looking for a place to eat dinner. Most of the shops were closed because they did not have any food to serve. The sea was rough and I guess it was difficult to bring supplies from Dumaguete. Also, there weren't even any fish to serve because the local fishermen weren't able to go fishing that day because of the weather. In fact, even our hotel had a limited selection available in their menu because their supplies were running low.
